Every great project starts with a realisation. For us, it was standing in the middle of a cold, cavernous warehouse in Flint and seeing past the concrete floors and industrial lighting. More than an empty building; we saw a solution to the North Wales winter (and sometimes spring, summer and autumn too … reliable, our Welsh weather is not).

For years, local cricketers, golfers and athletes in Flintshire have been underserved, forced into cramped school gyms or needing to drive miles and miles for facilities. We decided it was time that our area had a performance hub that matched the ambition of its sporting enthusiasts.

The Philosophy of a Soft Launch

Since welcoming our first cricketer at the end of December, you will have heard us talking about being in a ‘soft launch’ phase. This isn’t just business-speak; it’s a commitment to getting it right. We didn’t want to wait for perfection to open our doors, because we knew that the 2026 pre-season wouldn’t wait for us. By opening without every single thing being absolutely perfect, we feel like we are building TSW with you. Every comment about the lighting, every suggestion for the seating area, and every bit of feedback on the equipment is being built into the final product. And we couldn’t be more grateful for your input.

Building the Foundation

If you’ve been following along with our progress on social media, you’ll know that the transformation has involved much more than just rolling out some green carpet. We consulted with specialists to ensure our lighting met training standards – no shadows, no flickering, just clarity. We sourced the most durable, ‘true-bounce’ surfaces to ensure that when you train here, you’re training for the real world. And we talked with former professionals about getting the very best bowling machines to make batting practice as meaningful as possible.

Looking Forward 

As we move toward our official opening, our focus remains on the extra 10%. The online booking system is nearing launch, our off-peak pricing structures are being finalised to make the space accessible to everyone, and the social hub of the warehouse will soon be taking shape.

We aren’t just building a place to practice; we’re building a home for North Wales sport. We hope you love the space as much as we do.
